Navigating Turbulent Times Through Effective Collaboration

This session, led by Junious Williams, a leading expert as Principal and Owner of Junious Williams Consulting, Inc. and Senior Adviser to The Collective Impact Forum, will explore how organizations and networks can navigate current crises by adopting effective collaborative approaches, specifically focusing on the Collective Impact (CI) framework. Participants will gain an understanding of the benefits of collaboration in turbulent times and how the CI approach can enhance their efforts.

The session will begin with a presentation outlining the current crises, the demands and benefits of collaboration, and a detailed overview of the Collective Impact approach. Following the presentation, participants will engage in breakout group discussions to analyze the impact of these crises on their work and explore opportunities for applying CI principles within their organizations and the HPN network.

The breakout groups will discuss:

  • How current crises are impacting participants personally, their employment, their organizations, and their associations.
  • Current collaborative approaches being used, what is working and not working, and how CI elements/conditions could enhance these efforts.
  • Where a Collective Impact approach could be beneficial to achieve desired outcomes and increase impact.
  • Barriers and facilitating factors to collaboration, and how these can be addressed.

The session will conclude with a full group debrief, where key themes and patterns from the breakout discussions will be shared. Participants will also discuss their learning needs regarding CI and how HPN and associations can utilize CI to move forward.
